Our community

Yarnton Parish Council's community services enhance residents' well-being by promoting engagement and addressing needs. Through events and support for local organizations, the council fosters inclusivity.

Yarnton  is sited between Oxford to the south and Woodstock to the north, with a population of 2,640 people.

The village is surrounded by local farmland and nearby woodland with a good number of local footpaths to explore. The outdoors can also be enjoyed in our two playing fields, one at Rutten Lane Park, and the other at Little Marsh which is located down Green Lane, beyond the Turnpike pub. Those who prefer the indoors can make use of our village hall.

There are many local groups and organisations in the village and locality supporting a wide range of interests and activities.

Employment options are varied with a number of businesses in the local area or nearby and there is easy access by bus to Woodstock and Oxford.

The proposed build of 4,000 new houses between Begbroke, Kidlington and Yarnton will undoubtedly change the nature of the village. The Parish Council is determined to ensure the village remains a welcoming and pleasant place to live and work and is seeking to work closely with Cherwell District Council to ensure our community is not unduly affected by the increase in local housing.
