Kidlington (London Oxford) Airport

Aircraft noise

Noise is the most significant cause of adverse community reaction related to the operation and expansion of airports and Kidlington (London Oxford) Airport is no exception.

The airport states that it is committed to ensure that the operation of the airport does not adversely affect the local community and will take all feedback and comments received very seriously and will always make every effort to resolve any issues.

If you wish to contact the airport regarding a particular issue of concern, please give as much detail as possible, including the nature of the concern, any relevant dates and times and any other appropriate information.  This will allow them to conduct an appropriate investigation.

In many cases, aircraft are found to be compliant with all required aviation and local promulgated procedures and the airport may be unable to take any direct action regarding the concern, although details will be retained, collated and trends in any non-compliance will be reported to the Airport Consultative Committee periodically.

Flight path and reporting a nuisance

Below is the southern section of the route circuit prescribed for use by pilot training schools. As can be seen depicted by the blue line, aircraft should fly some distance to the west of Yarnton village turning easterly before the Oxford-Worcester railway to pass over the more southerly part of the village between Yarnton Manor and Cassington Road. From here the flight path continues towards a point approximately where the A44 and Oxford Canal cross and the direction changes northerly towards Kidlington.

If you have a concern that you feel should be reported, clear photographs showing aircraft ID markings and screen shots taken from the app, Flightradar 24, are helpful along with date, time and position over Yarnton village. Details may be entered via the Kidlington (London Oxford) Airport website. Oxfordshire, District and Parish Councillor Ian Middleton has agreed that those details may also be copied to him. Dated screengrabs from Flightradar 24 can also be sent to the Clerk who will pass these on.

It is important to understand that Yarnton is not far from Brize Norton military airspace and Kidlington Airport has no control of aircraft taking off, landing or otherwise associated with that site.
